“This course was unlike anything I had tried before, and it was a very valuable experience! The facilitator created an environment where I felt comfortable exploring new ways of thinking, feeling, and experiencing, while challenging some of the assumptions I held about myself. I gained practical insight I have been able to implement in my daily life and feel more awareness of my body and mind connection.”

"Anger has a bad rap, but it is actually one of the most hopeful and forward thinking of all our emotions."
- Soraya Chemaly, Rage Becomes Her
Do you feel stuck when it comes to anger? Unsure of how to process it, feeling overwhelmed by it, wanting to avoid or deny it? Maybe it leaks out through passive aggressiveness or you have moments of explosion after holding it in for so long.
You are not alone.
For those of us socialized as women especially, our relationship with anger can get distorted for many reasons. And that anger can get turned inward, eating us alive in many ways. Learning to turn toward it, process and transform the energy of it, and use its power with love and wisdom is an act of liberation for yourself and others.
In this 6 week series, we will holistically explore anger through the lens of somatics - through our bodies, thoughts, patterns, emotion processing, nervous system, and spirit. We will experientially learn ways to support our nervous system in having access to regulation and presence, as well as relationship with our fight response, supporting the capacity and flow of greater life force energy in and through us. We will embody new skills that can be used in daily life for your wellbeing and sense of aliveness.

The in-person experience is for women and non-binary folks.
The online course is oriented toward this same audience, though can be purchased by anyone.
In the US culture, and perhaps others around the world. anger is traditionally an emotion women are socialized to repress, and men are traditionally socialized to express, though of course we all have different family cultures and individual personality structures. (Folks outside of the gender binary may likely also learn to repress anger or have otherwise distorted relationship with anger). With these different dynamics, there are different conversations and experiences, and different ways of working with anger. I am more focused on supporting the reconnection with repressed anger and fight response and support women to feel empowered with processing their emotions through their bodies.

The online course is self-paced. After submitting payment (click ‘buy online course’ above), you will receive an email with instructions to access the pre-recorded videos and pdf handouts for each of the 6 ‘weeks’ or modules. The intention is for you to ‘take a class’ once a week, allowing space for each module to integrate, rather than going through it all at once. The videos are about 40-70 minutes long.
Optionally, you may add on 1:1 support from me while you move through the program. This could be through a single 1 hour session, a package of 3 sessions, and/or 6-8 weeks of text and voice message support via Signal (these options will be included in the email after the course is purchased).
Please note - if there is someone else who wants to move through the course with you, each person needs to purchase access to the online course (a family discount can be offered - please reach out to meagan@presencewithlove.com if you want to explore this).

Short answer: No.
Longer answer: In service of trauma healing, and not re-traumatizing our systems by doing too much too fast, we are moving gently in a titrated way. Embodied transformation comes when we can slow things down and stay present with it, not when we go into more overwhelm. Catharsis is not the same thing as completion. I do not invite screaming as part of this experience, we do not visit a rage room or have any kind of experience breaking things, and we are not making physical contact with other humans. There are certainly benefits to larger and more forceful expressions of anger, and we can explore more of that for you individually if you would like to discuss or have additional 1:1 support.
The intention of this course is not that you build skill at yelling and breaking things, but that you build skill at transforming emotional energy and using it sustainably for empowered vitality and healing.

One woman started the class saying something like “I never really register anger, I just don’t use that word to describe how I feel” and by the end said “I named anger in myself, I noticed it in my body, and I told someone else that I was angry.”
One woman said something like “I still struggle to know what anger fully feels like in my body, but I know I am on the right track because I no longer think it is bad to be angry. I can still be a good and spiritual person and feel anger.”
Another person said “I feel angry less often now!” (as someone who came in saying they felt a baseline level of anger and irritation all the time).
Our relationships with anger are personal and unique, and this class offers something different for everyone - and, we aren’t doing the work alone.

Attendance for all 6 weeks is encouraged, and we understand the fullness of life. You will have access to the recording(s) and content you need if you miss. If you know in advance that you will miss more than 2 weeks, perhaps we consider a future round. Please reach out if you have any questions about the commitment.

If you are familiar with the Enneagram, you may know that one of the defining features of the Type 1 pattern is Resentment, a repression of anger. This is something I unconsciously lived with for nearly 30 years, and have spent the last 7 years working to loosen and shift. (And am still working with in different ways).
Through my own mental, emotional, and physical health journey, I have been studying emotions, the ego, the nervous system, and somatic trauma work for years, and receiving my own therapeutic sessions for healing.
Most of the Somatics of Anger course is influenced by my training with Somatic Experiencing, a modality for trauma resolution.

Potentially, though nothing is currently scheduled for that. Right now, I am very focused on in-person work and community in the NKY/Cincinnati area, and I am open to the flow of life and what may emerge.
